Metamorphosis...

Please tell me if this makes sense to you...

I need to change, I need to create static so I move and grow. I've shaved my head recently and I don't have the funds to start a new wardrobe. I don't know if that would be enough anyway. I need to tear apart my room and throw out material baggage, stream line, organize, and refocus. I need help though. Between my room itself, the stuff in it, and my crap in storage I need help. Does anyone understand this process? To make the greatest changes within oneself I think that there needs to be changes within the environment that we live in, to some degree, for internal changes to be truly effective, we need to make external changes to cement them, to anchor them and make them permanent.

  1. Makes sense. If you're trying to make an internal change, an external change definitely helps. That includes both physical location and people. For example, if you're someone who drinks excessively and you're trying to quit drinking, it'll be much harder to succeed if you live a block from a bar and surround yourself with people who drink a lot. If you're a violent person and you want to become less of one, discipling at a monastery would help. Of course, these are probably more extreme situations that you're thinking about, but the underlying message is that if you want to make a big change, you need to change the external as well.
